Bee (Apis mellifera) Use highest quality RNA possible.
Dog Efficient removal of rRNAs.
Ferret (Mustela putorius) Efficient removal of rRNAs.
Frog (Xenopus) Use highest quality RNA possible.
Fruit fly (Drosophila) Will not remove 5S rRNA or 'right' fragment of 28S rRNA.
Fungus (Aspergillus niger) 300 nt region of 18S rRNA will not be removed from a degraded sample. Use highest quality RNA possible.
Human >99% removal of 28S, 18S, 5.8S and 5S rRNAs
Lamprey Use highest quality RNA possible.
Mammalian (other) ie cow, pig Not tested but expected to perform well.
Mosquito Not recommended. Poor removal of 28S and 5S rRNAs.
Monkey (Macaque; Cynomolgus macaques) Efficient removal of rRNAs.
Monkey (African green; Chlorocebus sabaeus) Efficient removal of rRNAs.
Mouse >99% removal of 28S, 18S, 5.8S and 5S rRNAs.
Nematode (C. elegans) Use highest quality RNA possible.
Newt (Notophthalmus viridescens) Expected to remove 18S and 28S rRNA. May not remove 5.8S or 5S rRNAs. Use highest quality RNA possible.
Protozoa (Plasmodium falciparum) Removes 28S and 18S rRNA. Will not remove 5.8S or 5S rRNAs.
Rat >99% removal of 28S, 18S, 5.8S and 5S rRNAs.
Shrimp Not recommended.
Yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) Removes 26S, 18S, 5.8S rRNAs from intact sample. Will not remove 5S rRNA. Use highest quality RNA possible.
Yeast (Schizosaccharomyces pombe) Expected to remove all rRNA species from intact RNA sample.
Sea anemone (Nematostella vectensis) Use highest quality RNA possible.
Sponge, marine (Crambe crambe) Efficient removal of 28S and 18S rRNAs.
Zebra fish Efficient removal of 28S, 18S, and 5S rRNAs. 5.8S rRNA removal has not been tested.
